Temple of Heaven is the most lively high profile park in Beijing that I've been to. Despite its world heritage fame that draws crowds wearing colorful caps and following small flags and megaphones, the park is better known to common residents in Beijing as a "natural oxygen bar" in the city, due to the large green areas surrounding the alter and the temple. From 6am daily, one can see all kinds of traditional Chinese exercises practised by hundreds of people coming from the neigherhood. Fascinating!
