I strolled to the Red Square on Sunday morning before I had to leave for the airport. It was drizzling. The Square is vast, grey and quiet. The stage set up on the east side for celebration of the 72th anniversary of the Parade on the Red Square on 7 Nov. 1941 appeared especially bright and red. The amber light from inside the Kazan Cathedral shed a touch of warmth into the cool and damp air. I stood on the north end of the Square, enjoying this precious moment of solitude.
