This is a website about life on a small island in the South China Sea - its villages dotted with old banyan trees, its hidden trails where butterflies dance and ginger flowers bloom, its crimson sunsets and tranquil moonrises, its hill tops over which black kites hover and glide, its far beaches where sea turtles lay their eggs and hatch their little ones...
This is also a website of journeys, adventures and pursuit of inspiring beauty out to the far corners of the world - of the hot air balloon floating above the green Karst landscape of China's southwest, of misty mountain trail winding up to the foggy top of Sarangkot in Nepal, of deep blue water of holy lake of Namtso glistening in the morning light of Tibetan Plateau, and of thick clouds pushing out of the caldera of Mt. Batur in the golden Bali sunrise; it is of warm lamp inside Koeppel Huette on top of a snowy hill of Westerwald on a cold New Year's day, of full arch of rainbow bending over Rainbow Beach across from the Fraser Island, of brilliant and scary underwater colors of corals and fishes in the Great Barrier Reef, and of the track of Inca Rail extending through beautiful mountains into the foot of Machu Picchu; it is of the cloud of dust raised by a Land Cruiser roaming on the vast African savanna in Serengeti, of lions and buffalos displaying a show of strength in Noah's Ark of Ngorongoro Crater, of snow petrel flying through Antarctica sunrise in the tenderest of colors, and of peaks of the Heavenly Mountains on the backdrop of sleepy rural villages along the rough Silk Road....
Lamma Island is a home, solid and permanent, for a drifter out seeing the world to always come back to. Lamma is a starting as well as an end point, a piece of soil and a piece of soul - here memories of the past are cherished, dramas of the present day unfolded and dreams for the future born and reborn.
